Following a period of sustained growth, the business is entering its next phase of evolution. Significant investment is being made in modernising technology, data, automation and AI capability to create a more connected, scalable and intelligent operating model.
This newly created executive leadership role represents a rare opportunity to build an enterprise-wide Data & AI function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the executive team, you’ll help define the long-term strategy while delivering meaningful operational change across the organisation.
This isn’t a traditional corporate data leadership role with established teams and mature platforms. It’s an opportunity to shape the future of a growing business by combining strategy, technology, data and operational transformation.
The Opportunity
As Chief Data & AI Officer, you’ll lead the development and execution of the organisation’s enterprise Data & AI strategy.
Working closely with the executive leadership team, you’ll transform fragmented processes into connected digital capabilities, modernise reporting and decision-making, establish strong data governance, and identify practical opportunities to leverage AI and automation across the business.
An external technology partner is currently delivering the first phase of the organisation’s transformation roadmap. You’ll oversee this implementation before taking ownership of the long-term strategy and subsequent phases, ensuring the foundations are in place to support future growth.
This role offers genuine executive influence and the opportunity to shape how the organisation operates over the next three to five years.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the enterprise Data & AI strategy.
- Lead the organisation’s data transformation roadmap beyond the current implementation phase.
- Build scalable data architecture, governance frameworks and reporting capability.
- Improve data quality, accessibility and enterprise-wide decision making.
- Identify and implement AI and automation opportunities across operations, customer experience and core business functions.
- Simplify and redesign business processes to reduce manual effort and improve productivity.
- Partner with executive stakeholders to drive organisational transformation and change.
- Build and grow an internal Data & AI capability over time.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and ensure investments align with commercial objectives.
- Foster a data-driven culture across the organisation.
About You
We’re looking for an executive who sits at the intersection of data, technology, operations and business transformation.
You may currently be a Chief Data Officer, Chief AI Officer, Head of Data, Head of AI, Director of Data & Analytics or Transformation Executive. More important than your title is your ability to translate strategy into execution and deliver measurable business outcomes.
You’ll likely bring:
- Experience leading enterprise data, AI or digital transformation programs.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence executive stakeholders.
- A track record of modernising legacy environments and improving operational efficiency.
- Experience developing enterprise data strategies, governance and analytics capability.
- Exposure to AI, automation and emerging technologies, with a practical approach to implementation.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- Experience building teams, capability and operating models within growing organisations.
Experience within financial services or insurance would be advantageous but is not essential.
